Why it matters
The vote decides whether Swiss-made components and ammunition can flow into European re-armament supply chains without the re-export blockages that hit Gepard ammunition and Piranha deliveries in 2022–24 — a 'yes' materially widens what EU primes can source from Switzerland from 2027.
Do this: Bid and supply-chain leads with Swiss content: keep two sourcing plans until 29 Nov 2026 (current KMG vs revised), and time long-lead orders from Swiss suppliers for after the vote; watch SECO's export-control page for implementing ordinances if the law is confirmed.

Summary
Parliament adopted the amendment to the Federal Act on War Material (KMG) on 19 December 2025 (National Council 122–68, Council of States 31–11): the Federal Council regains discretion over export criteria, exports to a list of 25 Western states are to be approved without extra conditions, and non-re-export declarations are largely abolished. A referendum against it succeeded (submitted 30 April 2026, ~59,000 valid signatures) and on 24 June 2026 the Federal Council scheduled the popular vote for 29 November 2026 alongside three other federal proposals.
