De opdracht betreft het over zee vervoeren van militair materieel op de route van Nederland en/of België naar de Verenigde Staten van Amerika (VS) en/of Canada en vice versa, inclusief voor- en natransport. Er is een reguliere behoefte voor het vervoeren van Nederland en/of België naar de oostkust van de VS en/of Canada en vice versa. Het gaat hierbij om het adhoc vervoeren van ladingen, bestaande uit (een) enkele container(s) of overig materieel per Afroep, die in een bepaald tijdsbestek dient te worden uitgevoerd. De lading bestaat veelal uit materieel dat in het kader van veiligheid gevoelig is om te vervoeren of hierover te communiceren. De ladingen bestaan vaak uit materieel dat niet regulier is. Hierbij valt te denken aan lading die “out of gauge” (OOG) is of IMDG materieel, waaronder munitie.
